We know that achieving true employee engagement is a process that evolves over time. A process that asks us to listen, to pay attention to people, and to give them the tools and resources they need to do their jobs to the best of their ability. No HR strategy or process is ever complete – it’s always evolving and adapting to meet the changing needs of the company and its employees.
How does Liquid Intelligent Technologies handle the people problem?
Firstly, we believe that there is no people problem, or problem people. The real challenge is to ensure that our employees are provided with an environment that allows for them to thrive. We give them opportunities to stretch their skills and learn new ones so they are confident and capable. With feedback, ongoing skills development, rich learning platforms and ongoing rewards, our people are recognised and seen. We know that if we don’t pay attention, neither will they.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies invested into a new strategy and direction in 2018 which impacted employee engagement and retention. It was a positive move forward into a new, relevant direction, but we recognised the importance of reconnecting with our employees. As a result, we recognised the importance of aligning ourselves to our values and ensuring that these values were felt by every person in the company. People want to be respected and they want transparency, so our commitment is to embed these values throughout the company.
What makes Liquid Intelligent Technologies’s HR practices so special?
People-centred learning opportunities. We are committed to the development of our employees and the unemployed youth. To cement this commitment, we have created numerous learning programmes that cater for different needs.
- Business Management – Our Business Management programmes for NQF 2 and NQF3 engage with learners who have disabilities.
- Internships – Our LTSA internship programme was developed in collaboration with MICTSETA and provides on-the-job training to graduates in engineering, sales, customer service, HR, strategic business support, and marketing.
- Bursaries – We provide deserving students who are studying relevant qualifications with bursaries at education institutions that include the University of Johannesburg, Nelson Mandela University, and Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
- Learnerships – Existing employees can access a variety of learnership programmes at NQF4 and NQF5 levels designed to boost their skills in new areas.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies has also partnered with YES4YOUTH in a youth employment development programme and with Microsoft in the development of a Cloud Guru learning site for employees. We also extend education and learning opportunities to our small to medium enterprise suppliers with coaching, training and mentoring programmes.
