Liquid Intelligent Technologies makes annual donation to preserving the memory of the Genocide against the Tutsi, part of a ten-year, million-dollar commitment

Liquid Telecommunications Rwanda Limited trading as Liquid Intelligent Technologies (Liquid), a business of Cassava Technologies, and a leading technology company of African heritage, has marked the 30th anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda with a US$100,000 donation to the Imbuto Foundation.

The funds will be used to digitise and preserve the country’s genocide memorials, ensuring that future generations of Rwandans, as well as visitors to the country, are able to experience and remember Rwanda’s darkest history.

“The documentation and preservation of the memory of the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 is a key priority for Rwanda. Liquid has pledged long-term support to the Government of Rwanda in ensuring that national memorials have access to the technology needed to preserve evidence and artifacts, and funding for documentation, research, and improvements to physical infrastructure. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are not only committed to the digitisation of Africa but also to supporting the communities in which we live and operate. Liquid is proud to be playing a role in memorialising Rwanda’s history,” said Sam Nkusi, the Executive Chairman of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Rwanda.

This marks Liquid ’s third annual donation to the Imbuto Foundation, founded by the First Lady of Rwanda, Her Excellency Mrs Jeannette Kagame. It forms part of a ten-year, US$1 million commitment by Liquid in collaboration with the Foundation and the Rwandan Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement. In addition to supporting the preservation of the country’s history, Liquid also offers free public internet to several locations in Rwanda, further empowering students, the public, and entrepreneurs with internet access. Enabling this digital access to information aligns with the company’s vision of a digitally connected Rwanda that leaves no one behind.
